Hurricane Helene has had a devastating impact on Asheville and Buncombe County that is still far from resolved. Fortunately, all of the members of the GAP Strategy Team are safe; we have also heard from many of our volunteers and some folks from our larger community of supporters, but not everyone. Several members of the GAP Team are engaged in ongoing relief efforts, including a new collaborative project called Bridging The Gaps, which is organizing to ensure that the most marginalized members of our community are being connected with necessary supplies, resources and services. We look forward to resuming the Government Accountability Project once this crisis becomes less acute (and once our local governments begin conducting regular business again.)
